Day
1: Arrive Hanoi
A warm welcome as you arrive at Noi Bai airport. Pick up and transfer to city
centre. Take cyclo tour around the famous Old Quarter's 36 ancient streets and
experience the hustle and bustle of the local lifestyles. In the evening, board
overnight sleeper train for Lao Cai.
Day
2: Sapa
From Lao Cai, make the
1-hour ascent by minivan towards Sapa hill station. The journey is dotted with
layers and layers of mountain ranges, stunning views of rice terraces and the
occasional Hmong family making their way to the fields. After check-in and
resting, begin an easy soft trek in the afternoon. The trekking path will lead
through rice terraces, a black Hmong village and a suspension bridge to Cat Cat
waterfall. Soft trek ends at the delightful Sapa market
where different ethnic minorities gather. You can find exquisite embroidery and
handicrafts of the various ethnic minority peoples on sale at the 2nd
level. Each ethnic minority has their own unique embroidery patterns and
handicrafts. Overnight in Sapa.
Day
3: Sapa
After breakfast, ascend Ham Rong mountain for a breathtaking overview of Sapa town and
surrounding mountain ranges. Visit Red Dao ethnic group in Ta Phin village to
understand their culture and lifestyle. The women of Red Dao ethnic minority
group wear bright red scarves with beautiful intricate patterns on their heads,
thus the term Red Dao. Overnight in Sapa.
Day
4: Can Cau/Bac Ha market (Saturdays & Sundays only)
An early start to the day as we proceed by minivan to visit the vibrant Can Cau
or Bac Ha market about 120 kilometres away. This is one of the biggest and most
colourful ethnic minority market in the area. Many different ethnic minority
peoples (Flower Hmong, Tay, Phu La, Nung, and Black Dao) in their striking traditional
costumes, with headgear and stockings, congregate to trade and catch up with one
another. An amazing galore of items are put on sale ranging from embroidery and
handicraft to livestock such as buffaloes and pigs.
We return to Lao Cai
in the afternoon to visit the Vietnamese-Chinese border overlooking into Yunnan
province. After dinner, board overnight sleeper train for Hanoi.
Day
5: Depart Hanoi
Arrive into Hanoi in
the early morning. Transfer to Noi Bai airport for departure.
