Day 1: Arrive Hanoi


A warm welcome upon arrival at Noi Bai airport and thereafter transfer to hotel. Free and easy to explore the streets of Hanoi until the evening's water puppet show. Tickle your taste buds with the traditional Hanoi specialty - grilled fish, with rice noodle.  Rice is the main staple in Vietnam.  Overnight in Hanoi.

 

Day 2: Hanoi City

 

A full day city tour presenting the historical, cultural, and ethnological facets of Vietnam. The visit includes: Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum and residence, One-Pillar Pagoda, Temple of Literature (1st university established in Vietnam), Museum of Ethnology, Hoa Lo Prison (Hanoi's "Hilton" - a former French prison) and Hoan Kiem Lake. The day's special is the famous bowl of yummy steaming beef noodle and the traditional "nem" or Vietnamese spring roll. In the evening, board overnight sleeper train for Hue.

 

Day 3: Hue

Arrive Hue in the morning and there is time to rest and relax, or for the energetic, to explore the most historically interesting city in Vietnam on your own. In the afternoon, visit the imposing Imperial Citadel where former Nguyen emperors and court officials resided.  Catch the warm rays of the setting sun casting over the glistering waters of Perfume River as we head back to shore to the delicious Hue culinary delight. Day 4: Royal Tombs

 

Travel along the peaceful Perfume River crossing the famous Trang Tien Bridge to the royal tombs of Emperors Khai Dinh and Minh Mang. These royal tombs boast of impressive architecture and intricate carvings reflecting the powerful reign of their respective rulers. In the afternoon, journey along the beautiful coastal route crossing over Hai Van pass where the ocean view from the top will simply take your breath away.  Tuck into a tasty treat of Hoi An’s local delicacy, a dry noodle dish mixed with an interesting sweet and sour gravy before retiring for the night at the beautiful sands of Cua Dai beach.   Overnight in Hoi An.

 

Day 5: Hoi An

 

Enjoy a tour of the idyllic Hoi An town and visit Fukien assembly hall, Japanese bridge, some ancient houses that have its original architecture preserved and kept intact over the years. Visit and shop at the various fascinating art galleries and intricate handicraft workshops. There is also opportunity to tailor clothes and shoes.  For the initiated, we have lined up a cooking class for you where traditional Vietnamese cuisine is taught by the leading chefs of Hoi An town.  Those that would rather chill out can opt for a lazy afternoon basking and relaxing by the white sandy beach or to play with the gentle waves caressing the shore. Overnight in Hoi An.

 

Day 6: Hoi An

 

Travel out about 30 kilometres to My Son ruins, where it was once an important religious site of the mighty Champa kingdom.  Nestled in a valley, amidst surrounding low lying hills, My Son tells of a impressive civilization through the unique architecture and building prowess of a people whose beginnings dates back to 1st and 2nd centuries AD. 

 

More history awaits in the afternoon as a guided tour of Hoi An will reveal the intricacies and harmony of this trading town as we visit significant icons such as the Japanese bridge, assembly hall, ancient house, civilization museum and watch a traditional musical performance.  Overnight in Hoi An.

 

Day 7: Ho Chi Minh City

 

Transfer to Danang for flight to Ho Chi Minh City.  There is some time to shop at the many boutiques and shopping complexes, pamper yourselves to some sauna and healing spa treatment, or just enjoy local delights, such as cashew nuts, and tropical fruits of all sorts, of the land.  Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

 

Day 8: Mekong Delta

 

The fertile Mekong Delta awaits as the long tail boat meaders across the many criss-crossing water tributaries and channels interspersed throughout the delta. Travel through acres and acres of paddy fields and fruit orchards, peep into the lifestyle of the local people living by the river, visit a bee farm where honey is cultivated and discover the simple techniques passed down over many generations of making coconut candies and rice paper. Taste the delicious fried meat of the elephant ear fish, a specialty of Mekong Delta served with the fish propped vertically upwards. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.  

 

Day 9: Depart Ho Chi Minh City

 

Transfer to airport for departure.
