Day 1: Arrive Hanoi


A warm welcome as you arrive at Noi Bai airport.  Transfer onto a connecting domestic flight for Danang where upon arrival, we will travel to the lovely Hoi An town, the first site of our World Heritage Journey. Overnight in Hoi An.

 

Day 2: Hoi An

 

Enjoy a tour of the idyllic Hoi An town situated by the banks of Thu Bon river and visit Fukien assembly hall, Japanese bridge, some ancient houses. Visit and shop at the various fascinating art galleries and intricate handicraft workshops. There is also opportunity to tailor clothes and shoes. Overnight in Hoi An.

Day 3: My Son

The mystical and ancient ruins of My Son awaits as we take a leisurely boat trip down Thu Bon river, flanked on both sides by lush green paddy fields, to this former capital and religious centre of Champa kingdom between 7th and 13th century. Visit the various Cham towers, each designated for a special purpose such as worship a specific god, set in a fertile valley surrounded by low hills. Return to Hoi An in the afternoon where there is some free time to rest & relax by the sandy white beaches at Cua Dai or to catch up on more shopping. Overnight in Hoi An.

Day 4: Hue

 

Embark on one of the most scenic coastal road in Vietnam as we travel along Highway 1A to Hue. En-route, stop over at Hai Van Pass which offers an incredible view of vigorous waves crashing into rock boulders stretched out along the untouched and pristine coastline.

 

Arriving in Hue, tour Imperial Citadel, the former court and royal residence of the powerful Nguyen dynasty, and walk through pages of Vietnamese history belonging to the 17th and 18th centuries. Visit Dong Ba market, the largest in Hue, for a closer look at local lifestyle. The tour of Hue is not complete without an evening treat to traditional Hue music performance over dinner.  Overnight in Hue.

 

Day 5: Royal Tombs

 

Cruise along the peaceful Perfume River crossing the famous Trang Tien Bridge from underneath to the royal tombs of Emperors Khai Dinh and Minh Mang. These royal tombs boast of impressive architecture and intricate carvings reflecting the powerful reign of their respective rulers. Thereafter, journey northwards to Quang Binh province where the impressive Phong Nha caves are located.  Overnight in Quang Binh.

 

Day 6: Phong Nha Caves

 

A day with nature as we cruise along on a slow boat into the depths of the beautiful Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park and be amazed with the delicate balance of nature as the dense forest give way to a tranquil river in its midst. At the magnificent Phong Nha caves, gentle hike to the dry cave to see the spectacular stalactite and stalagmite formations, and then continue the boat journey to explore the interesting hidden underground water caves. Board overnight sleeper train for Hanoi.

 

Day 7: Halong Bay

 

Arrive Hanoi and continue on the journey to Halong Bay. Enjoy the scenery of Vietnamese rural lifestyles with conical hats bobbing up and down in the paddy fields during the rice-planting season. Along the way, stopover at a humanity centre for the underprivileged.

 

Upon arrival at Halong City, our 3-level junk will take us amongst the thousands of limestone grottoes rising from the clear emerald waters. As the junk weaves through the maze of grottoes, we will visit some caves to see the stunning stalactites and stalagmites formed over thousands of years, stopover at a floating fishing village, climb up Titov mountain for a panoramic view of the beautiful bay, swim and kayak to explore caves, grottoes and beaches.

 

As the setting sun descends gradually over the sea horizon, casting its remaining rays across the glittering water surface, dinner of local fresh seafood is served. Overnight on boat.

 

Day 8: Halong Bay, Hanoi

 

The early rising sun, peeking through the grottoes, signals the beginning of a brand new day. After breakfast, there is another opportunity to swim, and kayak to explore more caves and grottoes. On the passage back to shore, the junk will sail by the famous jetty where the film "Indochine" was shot. After lunch on shore, make the return journey back to Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi.

 

Day 9: Depart Hanoi

 

Transfer to airport for departure.
